Space Plane Deploys Unknown Objects into Orbit

By Matt De Vlieger · December 23, 2023

Shenlong Space Plane

Float over space spy balloon. A new object is entering our media orbit. On December 19, 2023, China's reusable space plane, the Shenlong, deployed six mysterious objects into Earth's orbit, creating a buzz of speculation worldwide. These unidentified objects, labeled OBJECT A through F, have ignited curiosity as amateur astronomers analyze their signals and attempt to unravel their purpose.  China Aerospace Studies Institute

Unveiling Enigmas

The Shenlong's mission takes secrecy to new heights as OBJECT A stands out with a signal reminiscent of previous missions. Amateur astronomer Scott Tilley notes the unique modulation pattern at 2280MHz, previously documented only in past Shenlong missions. However, OBJECT D and E emit intermittent signals, raising questions about their purpose and sparking days of observations to decode their mysterious behavior.  Spacecraft Wiki

Decoding Signals

"t's taken days of observations tracking pass after pass with dish antennas to come up with this data." Amateur astronomer Scott Tilley and fellow trackers diligently observe the emissions from OBJECT D and E, confident that the signals originate from the objects or their immediate vicinity. The intermittent and short-lived nature of these emissions adds a layer of complexity, contrasting with the patterns observed in earlier Shenlong missions. Their analysis points to potential connections between these unidentified objects as they orbit Earth.  Scott Tilley 🇺🇦 (@coastal8049) / Twitter X

Orbital Dance

As the Shenlong's mysterious objects continue their orbital dance, the intrigue intensifies. The near-circular orbit of OBJECT A intersects with the elliptical paths of OBJECT D and E at their perigee (closest points to Earth). These upcoming "close encounters" may provide crucial insights into the purpose and connection between the objects, unlocking the next chapter in the Shenlong's enigmatic missions.  Spacecraft Wiki
